Trip to Trier

Hi there! Review of the trip that we've done this weekend!
In few words, Trier is the oldest city in Germany. It has been founded by romans before 16 BC. The french and luxembourgers call it "Trèves". Trêve de plaisanterie. Hihi, good french pun. We had to travel 4 hours by train to reach the city which is not far from Luxembourg in the Bundesland Rhineland-Palatinate/Rheinland-Pfalz/Rhénanie-Palatinat.

One of the most important monument of the city is the best preserved roman city gate, Porta Nigra:

Next attraction is the cathedral which hasn't been built by romans but still very beautiful. It is registered as a UNESCO world heritage site. Not that bad! Picture too close:

Trier is also many other stuff like the oldest pharmacy of Germany, the oldest fountain, oldest tourist information, oldest Lidl, etc. Something less old: Trier is also the native city of everyone's old friend Karl Marx! Look:

See the chinese version! It's the ultimate goal of all communist pilgrimage! loooool

Special price for the picnic we did sitting beside the river Mosel. Veee
eery pleasant!

Trier is a very nice historical city that I would recommend. Photos are here
